For 19 days in the early fall, art from around the world is shows in downtown Grand Rapids in 175 different venues—museums, galleries, bars, restaurants, theaters, hotels, public parks, lobbies, buildings, walls, bridges, laundromats, and auto body shops—and it’s all free and open to the public. The competition awards more than five hundred thousand dollars in prizes each year, and the event now attracts over 500,000 visitors, making it the most attended public art event in the world in 2014 and 2015.
My ArtPrize piece, "The Grandview House Gardens", will be on display at the Women's City Club in downtown Grand Rapids, alongside the work of several dozen other fine artists. Venue hours are 12 pm to 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and 12 pm to 6 pm (Sunday). View my entry profile on the Artprize website.
